Second Community Announcement
Following this week’s Community Announcement regarding anti-social behaviour at Meigh Road Playing Fields and the future of the pump track, Werrington Parish Council would like to inform residents that, from Monday 10th August, we will be trialling the closure of the pedestrian gate adjacent to the car park outside of the playing fields’ car park opening hours. The gate will be locked at closing time each evening and reopened at the usual opening time each morning.
The purpose of this temporary measure is to reduce the number of access and exit points to the playing fields from three to two, with the aim of helping to reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour. This action follows a recommendation from the Crime Prevention Team.
The effectiveness of this trial will be monitored over the coming weeks. Subject to the outcome, the Parish Council may also consider introducing a similar trial at the Penmere entrance.
As this is a trial, we welcome feedback from residents. Please send your comments to Clerk@werringtonparishcouncil.gov.uk or attend the next meeting of Werrington Parish Council, which will take place on Monday 14 September at 7:00pm at Werrington Methodist Church.
We appreciate the community’s patience, understanding and cooperation while this trial is underway. Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep Meigh Road Playing Fields a safe, welcoming and enjoyable space for everyone.
