Do you have time to volunteer and join the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group?
Werrington Parish Council is creating a Neighborhood Plan.
We are looking to bring together our community to help scope, shape and develop it.
The first part of this process is to form a Steering Group that includes interested members of our community together with Parish Councillors. Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in the Neighbourhood Area (Werrington Parish).
We meet at least once a month, typically on a Monday morning.

What is a Neighbourhood Plan
The plan is a community-led framework for guiding the future development and growth of an area. It may contain a vision, aims, planning policies, proposals for improving the area or providing new facilities, or allocation of key sites for specific kinds of development.
A Neighbourhood Plan relates to the use and development of land and associated social, economic and environmental issues. It may deal with a wide range of issues (like housing, employment, heritage and natural environment) or it may focus on one or two issues that are of particular importance in a local area.

Housing Growth across the Parish
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) is in the process of reviewing the adopted Local Plan. As part of that process, they are evaluating the growth strategy across the district. Provisionally, Officers have indicated a potential growth of between 600-800 new homes in the Parish to meet the new calculations based on changes to housing delivery at a national level.
We must stress this is an indicative number with a call for sites currently being undertaken by SMDC. The Werrington Neighbourhood Plan is seeking to write policies on the design of any new homes and to inform the type and mix.
Please complete the Neighbourhood Plan Household Survey to share your views with the Parish Council for the Parish Council to evidence what’s important to the people of Werrington. The questionnaire has or will be posted through your door shortly. Please return it freepost or complete the questionnaire online
